TP-Link Deco BE22 is an entry-level Wi-Fi 7 mesh unit, sold individually as a 1-pack, built for apartments and small homes that don’t need the wider coverage of a multi-pack system.
Wi-Fi 7 Speed And Mesh Coverage
It delivers combined wireless speeds up to 3.6 Gbps — 688 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 2882 Mbps on the 5GHz band using Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with 4K-QAM for improved efficiency. Multi-Link Operation (MLO) lets it send and receive data across both bands simultaneously, improving throughput and reducing latency. AI-driven Seamless Roaming keeps devices connected under one WiFi name as more units are added later, with adaptive routing automatically choosing the best path for each connection.
Backhaul, Ports And Security
Each unit includes two Gigabit WAN/LAN ports, and the Deco BE22 can use wired and wireless backhaul simultaneously, TP-Link’s self-developed technology that improves throughput and reduces latency compared to wireless-only backhaul. TP-Link HomeShield provides network scanning, parental controls, QoS, and detailed reports, and the system works with any ISP or modem, and is backward compatible with all previous WiFi generations. It’s also compatible with every other Deco model, so coverage can be expanded later just by adding more units. Setup and management run through the Deco app, and it works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
- Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 With MLO — Up to 3.6 Gbps combined (688 Mbps on 2.4GHz, 2882 Mbps on 5GHz).
- 4K-QAM — Improved wireless efficiency for supported devices.
- AI-Driven Seamless Roaming — Keeps devices on one WiFi name as you add more units.
- 2x Gigabit WAN/LAN Ports — Supports simultaneous wired and wireless backhaul.
- TP-Link HomeShield — Network scanning, parental controls, QoS, and reports.
- Compatible With All Deco Models — Expandable by adding more Deco units later.
This makes the Deco BE22 a good starting point for apartments or small homes wanting Wi-Fi 7 speeds without committing to a multi-pack system, with the option to add more units later for larger coverage. Buyers with bigger homes should consider the multi-pack Deco BE25 instead, which also adds 2.5G ports for faster wired backhaul.
