The TP-Link Archer AX23 is an AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router, positioned as a step up from TP-Link’s entry-level Archer AX12 with a faster 2.4GHz band, an extra LAN port, and OneMesh support for future coverage expansion.
Wi-Fi 6 Speed And Coverage
It delivers combined wireless speeds up to 1.8 Gbps 1201 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 574 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band using Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). A next-gen high-efficiency chipset handles OFDMA for smoother performance across multiple connected devices, while four high-performance antennas with Beamforming extend and focus coverage.
Ports, Security And Mesh Expansion
On the wired side, it includes 1 Gigabit WAN port and 4 Gigabit LAN ports one more LAN port than the entry-level Archer AX12. It supports WPA2/WPA3 encryption, a separate guest network, and access control with device whitelisting or blacklisting. The Archer AX23 also supports TP-Link’s OneMesh feature, so it can be paired with a OneMesh-compatible extender later to expand coverage without replacing the router. Setup and management run through the TP-Link Tether app.
- AX1800 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 — Up to 1.8 Gbps combined (1201 Mbps on 5GHz, 574 Mbps on 2.4GHz).
- OFDMA And High-Efficiency Chipset — Smoother performance across multiple devices.
- 4 High-Performance Antennas With Beamforming — Extended, focused coverage.
- 1 Gigabit WAN + 4 Gigabit LAN Ports — Full Gigabit wired connectivity.
- WPA2/WPA3 Security & Access Control — Modern encryption plus device whitelisting/blacklisting.
This makes the Archer AX23 a good middle-ground option for homes that want a bit more than entry-level Wi-Fi 6 speed and the flexibility to expand coverage later with OneMesh. Buyers who don’t need mesh expansion may find the more basic Archer AX12 sufficient at a lower cost, while those needing higher combined speeds should look at AX3000+ options like the Mercusys MR80X.
