TP-Link TL-SG2428P is a 28-port Gigabit Smart Switch designed for offices, shops, hotels, schools, and surveillance networks that need both high-density Gigabit access and PoE power. It provides 24 802.3af/at-compliant PoE+ RJ45 ports for access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, and other powered devices, plus four Gigabit SFP slots for fibre uplinks.
The switch delivers a 56 Gbps switching capacity, 41.7 Mpps forwarding rate, 8K MAC address table, 4.1 Mbit packet buffer, and support for 9 KB jumbo frames. Its rack-mountable metal housing, two cooling fans, and 1U form factor make it suitable for network cabinets and server rooms.
Key Features and Benefits
24 PoE+ Ports with 250W Budget
All 24 RJ45 ports support 802.3af/at PoE+ with up to 30W per port and a total PoE budget of 250W. This allows you to power compatible devices directly through Ethernet and reduce the need for separate power adapters.
Gigabit Access and SFP Uplinks
The switch provides 24 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports for computers, printers, IP cameras, access points, and other wired devices. The four Gigabit SFP slots support fibre modules for longer-distance uplinks or network segmentation; SFP modules are sold separately.
VLANs, Static Routing and QoS
The TL-SG2428P supports up to 4K VLAN groups, 802.1Q VLANs, MAC VLAN, protocol VLAN, GVRP, and Voice VLAN. It also provides static routing with up to 32 IPv4/IPv6 routes, DHCP server and relay functions, and QoS with 802.1p/DSCP priority, eight priority queues, bandwidth control, and storm control.
Enterprise Security
Security features include ACLs, IP-MAC-Port Binding, port security, DHCP Snooping, ARP inspection, IP Source Guard, DoS defence, 802.1X authentication, RADIUS support, and port isolation. These features help protect the network from unauthorised access and common Layer 2 attacks.
Omada SDN and Standalone Management
The switch can be managed standalone through its web GUI, CLI via Telnet, SNMP, and RMON. When adopted by an Omada Hardware, Software, or Cloud-Based Controller, it supports centralized monitoring, automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrades, and unified configuration. Cloud access and Omada app management require a compatible Omada Controller; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires an Omada Cloud-Based Controller.
Compatibility and Important Details
The TL-SG2428P includes 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports and four Gigabit SFP slots. The SFP slots do not include fibre modules, so SFP modules and fibre patch cords must be purchased separately. It supports IPv6 with dual IPv4/IPv6 stack, MLD Snooping, and IPv6 neighbour discovery.
PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing, and the actual available PoE power can vary depending on connected devices and environmental conditions. Some features may require the latest firmware.
