TP-Link SG6428XHP is a high-density Omada 24-port Gigabit Stackable L3 Managed PoE+ Switch for offices, campuses, ISPs, and larger business networks. It provides 24 PoE+ RJ45 ports for devices such as access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones, plus four 10G SFP+ slots for high-speed fibre uplinks, stacking, or server connections.
The switch delivers a 128 Gbps switching capacity, 95.2 Mpps forwarding rate, 32K MAC address table, and 24 Mbit packet buffer. It is designed for 19-inch rack installation and includes four hot-swappable fan trays with front-to-back airflow.
Key Features and Benefits
24 PoE+ Ports with 402W Default Budget
All 24 RJ45 ports support 802.3af/at PoE+, with up to 30W per port. The switch ships with one PSM500-AC power module and provides a 402W PoE budget by default. It supports up to 720W when configured with a PSM900-AC module or two power modules.
Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE
Fast PoE saves PoE settings during a reboot, while Perpetual PoE helps keep connected devices powered when the switch restarts. These features are useful for surveillance cameras, access points, and VoIP phones that need to remain available during maintenance.
Layer 3 Routing and Network Segmentation
The SG6428XHP supports static routing, RIP, OSPFv2/OSPFv3, ECMP, VRRP, DHCP server and relay, and multicast routing with PIM-DM and PIM-SM. It also supports 4K VLANs, QinQ, private VLANs, MAC VLANs, and IGMP/MLD Snooping for flexible segmentation and multicast control.
Stacking and Redundancy
You can physically stack up to eight SG6428XHP units in standalone mode, or up to four units in controller mode. The switch supports VRRP, ERPS, N+1 redundant fans, and two field-replaceable hot-swappable power supply modules. The second power module is optional and must be purchased separately.
Enterprise Security and QoS
Security features include ACLs, IP-MAC binding, DHCP Snooping, ARP inspection, IP Source Guard, DoS defence, port security, 802.1X authentication, and RADIUS/TACACS+ support. QoS features include eight priority queues, 802.1p and DSCP priority, queue scheduling, rate limiting, and storm control.
Omada SDN and Standalone Management
The switch can be managed standalone through a web GUI, CLI via console, Telnet, or SSH, SNMP, and RMON. When adopted by an Omada Hardware, Software, or Cloud-Based Controller, it supports centralized monitoring, automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrades, and unified configuration. Omada cloud access and app management require a compatible Omada Controller; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires an Omada Cloud-Based Controller.
Compatibility and Important Details
The SG6428XHP includes 24 Gigabit PoE+ RJ45 ports and four 10G SFP+ slots. The SFP+ slots support fibre modules, direct-attach cables, and compatible RJ45 SFP+ modules. TP-Link specifies that no more than two 10G RJ45 SFP+ modules are supported, and they can only be inserted into SFP+ slots 49 and 53.
SFP/SFP+ modules, DACs, fibre cables, and the optional second power supply module are sold separately. Some advanced features may require the latest firmware.
