TP-Link RE815XE AXE5400 Mesh Wi-Fi 6E Range Extender

The TP-Link RE815XE is TP-Link’s top-tier range extender, adding a dedicated 6GHz band on top of the usual 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands a step up from dual-band extenders like the RE705X for homes that want the extra headroom Wi-Fi 6E provides.

Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Speed And OneMesh Coverage

It delivers combined wireless speeds up to 5.4 Gbps 574 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band, 2402 Mbps on the 5GHz band, and 2402 Mbps on the 6GHz band using Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax with 6GHz support). A Broadcom 1.7GHz quad-core CPU with 1024-QAM and 160MHz channel bandwidth (HE160) doubles network speed compared to standard 80MHz channels on supported devices. Four external antennas help extend coverage into larger homes, and it’s compatible with TP-Link OneMesh, so when paired with a OneMesh router such as the Archer AXE75 it joins the same WiFi name for a single seamless network with Smart Roaming as you move between rooms.

Ports, Setup And Placement

A Gigabit Ethernet port doubles as a built-in access point, letting a wired connection become a tri-band wireless hotspot for a smart TV or games console. Smart signal indicators help find the best spot to place the extender, and setup runs through the WPS button or the TP-Link Tether app.

• AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E — Up to 5.4 Gbps combined (574 Mbps on 2.4GHz, 2402 Mbps on 5GHz, 2402 Mbps on 6GHz).
• 160MHz Channel Bandwidth (HE160) — Doubles network speed compared to standard 80MHz channels.
• 4 External Antennas — Extended coverage for larger homes.
• OneMesh Compatible With Smart Roaming — Joins a single WiFi network name and keeps devices connected while moving between rooms.
• 1 Gigabit Ethernet Port — Doubles as a built-in tri-band wireless access point.
• Smart Signal Indicators — Helps find the best placement for the extender.

This makes the RE815XE the strongest option for larger homes with many connected devices, especially when paired with a Wi-Fi 6E router like the Archer AXE75 for a unified OneMesh network. Buyers without 6GHz-capable devices or with more modest coverage needs may find the RE705X (AX3000) sufficient at a lower cost.
